Pressure cells consist of  a pair of electron beam welded, stainless steel plates  forming a capsule which is subsequently filled with fluid under high vacuum . As pressure is applied to the capsule, the fluid pressure is transmitted via a thick wall stainless steel to a vibrating wire transducer which transforms the applied pressure to a frequency output suitable for data logging or remote reading.
Pressure cells are intended to measure applied pressure either in fill, at an interface between fill and rigid structure or as a means to measure changes in concrete stress.

NATM and Concrete Stress Cells

Vibrating wire Pressure cell for measuring changes in concrete stress, typically used in NATM shotcrete applications. Fitted with repressurising tube for initial thermal volume change compensation.

Jack Out Pressure Cell

Vibrating Wire
Pressure cells to determine the earth pressure acting on diaphragm walls or barettes. The cell is initially installed in a reinforcing cage and then jacked out to contact the wall of the excavation.
